Let’s Chat - February Vogue

February Vogue came through my door earlier and couldn’t wait to get my head into it. There are so many good parts to this issue. I have to say I have been engulfed in designer profiles at the back of the issue. This is really always my favourite part I love to explore new designers or things to try and spend a lot of time looking at what catches my eyes and researching on my own from this as a starting point.

I am going to work backwards in the issue today it is just how my mind has found the issue and what has me most excited really. First of all the jewellery designer profile was amazing this month I feel there was something for everyone an any budget. Some brands I loved looking into were Sorsa Jewellery, Alexie of Athens and The Orchid Jewelry. These cam in at all different price points and are all predominately jewellery that is gold, filled or plated - it is my jewellery colour of choice so is more what I lean for when looking in Vogue. All these brands were super feminine with a level of sophistication to them.

I tend to lean towards versatile jewellery that I can wear all the time - I rarely change my earrings now and have a few staple rings that I change occasionally but I want this to change as they can change a look so much; the pieces from these brands all work well together but I like how elevated some pieces are to add variation in. The Orchid Jewellery is a surprising one for me, I have fallen in love with the pieces as soon as I saw them. The brand really focuses on women’s strength and soften balance, they really seem to create a natural flow with each piece that would work great alone or as a layered piece. These pieces look almost made for you when worn from looking at the models, I do really like the necklaces they have they seem to make the collar bone really stand out. The piece which has really caught my eye is ‘The flown Choker’ (way out of my price range at £7,892 ) it is gorgeous.

Moving onto the designer profile for fashion now, Oh So Troppy caught my eye instantly blending fun and sophisticated together which I love and defiantly need to add more of this into my wardrobe. The Peace Palm Shirt is so elevated I love the balance between detail and structure focuses. being a fan of oversized shirts I know I would already be biased to this but has such a famine fit with drawstring gathered cuffs that contrasted the boxy body of the shirt. It retails for $220 and can see the beachy, relaxed vibe proposed in this design - perfect for its Australian brand heritage.

another Designer that caught my eye was the brand Zetaye. These pieces are elegant and silhouette focused, a feature that always draws me in. The brand has a really feminine feel whilst still incorporating fun colours like baby pinks and summer greens without loosing the elegant touch. The S/S 26 release feature a gorgeous floral print shown on assorted garments which I would adore to won. They look perfect for occasion dressing but could just as easily be dressed down more office days and meals out. I really love the wide leg trousers on a silk fabric. At a glance they look structured and fixed in shape but as you look closer the fabric is fine and flows and would look stunning in a gentle breeze.

Through out the issue pops of a bright and bold red are very common, I have already seen this filtering into highstreet stores and can see this is going to be a key colour in many releases soon. I think red can add a really playful touch to any outfit and love it layered with deeper colours to enhance the colour pop more.

Page 143 shows Andrew Turner in Saint Laurent styled by Anthony Vaccarello. His outfit is a timeless mens look with a twist. Highwaist pleated front suit trousers with a silk short and tie. Let me tell you this look is exactly what I want to see more of in mens wear, small changes in details has completely transformed a basic shirt and trouser look and I LOVE. I feel the burgundy tie with musky salmon pink silk shirt balances really wel, this deeper tones create a strong impression. Styling wise I love how the tie has been done up tight yet the top button is undone, more of a relaxed look yet still smart and not messy intentional contrast of style which is so effective here. If more people dressed like this I would enjoy social events much more to say the least.

Maya Jamas edit caught my eye. Her feature focuses on archival eBay pieces. Her first photo is head to tow leopard print, something I have become very fond of recently and it just looks stunning. If I had a place to wear this look it would be straight on me but I think my trips to Tesco would get a lot of stares in such outfit when I am normally in joggers and a messy bun. Tabitha Simmons was the stylist here and it looks amazing from getting different leopard prints to work as a cohesive outfit is incredible and blend of coset bodice and pencil skirt with and oversized coat is so considered. it is stylish not tacky which is a common thought when leopard print is seen.

Te Vogue Scene was cute, accessories in a fridge with pops of colours. It was pretty and different and fun to look at which I enjoyed - sometimes a lot of text isn’t needed the photos say it all and I think this issue of vogue has a really nice balance for that in general.

Finally talking about the colour with Jessie Buckley, a nice vintage feel to the photo with faded yellow and blue for colour, nothing super exciting but an aesthetic photo none the less and sometimes it is nice not to have such a punchy cover something with more depth and natural feel breaks it up a little.

There it is, Let’s chat - February Vogue. I hope it was an easy read into the new year and stay tuned for bi weekly posts and rambling writing that is like talking to a friend.
